Dear Parents and Carers,
We're excited to let you know that next term, our Cubs and Scouts have been selected to pilot an exciling new activity badge:
The Driving Proficiency Badge
This unique badge has been developed to help Cubs/Scouts gain confidence and early awareness of road safety, vehicle handling, and essential motoring knowledge
* Identify steering and mirror positioning
* learn the basics of safe-vehicle checks
* Navigate a "cone course" in the hall using toy cars or balance
* Take part in a theory quiz, based on~ real-life driving scenarios
* Learn to give polite hand signals when approaching mini roundabouts(if time allows)
* Take part in supervised short driving demonstrations.
To make the badge even more memorable, each Cub/Scout will receive two embroidered badges- one for their uniform and one for their camp blanket.
We're currently looking for a few willing parent volunteers who would be happy to offer up their car (and nerves) for the steering and parking sessions. Please let us know if you're able to help !
