A few photos from a VERY WET Cub Night Hike / Sleepover. Click on a photo to start the slide show.
On Saturday 21st November, some Puma and Cheetah Pack Cubs took part in the first Ware and District Cub Night Hike along with Cubs from five other Packs in the District. In what was an extremely wet and windy evening, the Cubs completed a challenging 2.8 mile walk from Standon to Latchford via The Lordship. During the hike the Cubs stopped at various bases where they completed tasks including first aid, hot drink preparation, and tent pitching (no easy feat in torrential rain!). Despite the weather, the Cubs coped brilliantly, singing campfire songs along the way and remaining full of enthusiasm and energy until the very end… although the minibus was a welcome sight! :-)
After the hike, 50 very muddy Cubs returned to Roger de Clare school where clean dry clothes were waiting and Baloo was on standby with hot drinks and soup to warm everyone up. After settling into their sleeping bags to watch a Wallace and Gromit movie, it was finally lights out for some much needed sleep. The following morning the Cubs were treated to a tasty cooked breakfast before finally packing up and going home.
The Cubs all said how much they enjoyed both the hike and the sleepover, so many thanks to Cheetah Akela and his team of excellent helpers for organising this event – it was a great success and I think that the Cubs are already looking forward to the next one!
